Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

We thrive on making sure that every single client is 100% satisfied with their final product!

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Our studio occupies the top floor of a historic townhoues – turned commercial property. We’re the yellow building on the corner of Sasser Street and North Bloodworth Street, in downtown Raleigh.

HOW MANY FITTINGS CAN I EXPECT FOR BRIDAL ALTERATIONS?

The average bride experiences 3-5 visits to the studio to complete their alterations. These numbers include the first fitting – at which point we haven’t had an opportunity to touch the gown, and a final pick-up. Please be advised that additional fittings may be added or removed for circumstances such as bridal portraits, forgetting to bring shoes, materials not arriving on times and so forth.

WHEN SHOULD YOU CONTACT US TO SCHEDULE BRIDAL ALTERATIONS?

Generally, we recommend that you contact us as soon as you’ve received your gown. It’s imperative that we see you in the gown to know how well it fits, how it’s constructed and how long it will take to make the proper alterations. Each bride has a unique dress and timeline so it’s impossible to generate a quote or estimate a timeline without an initial consultation.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE IN BRIDAL ALTERATIONS AND MODIFICATION?

The fashion / textile industry defines ‘alterations’ as specifically fitting the dress without changing the integrity of the original design in any way. ‘Modification’ is defined as making creating (whether functional or not) changes to the garment. Examples of modification would be: thinning shoulder straps, significantly shortening hem into another hem description, changing the silhouette of the original gown, etc.. Please note that modification is much more significant time-wise and will result in higher fees than standard alterations.
