CUSTOM BRIDAL GOWNS + EVENT DRESSES

All custom gowns and garb are created by Marie Cordella personally. Her expertise ranges from classic tailoring to embellished lacework, tulle illusions and detailed beading. She designs full gowns, skirts, over-skirts, tulle skirts, lace-toppers, tulle toppers, boleros, full-length lace overlays, classic edgeless veils, elaborate avant-garde veils and much more.

Long before immersing herself in the bridal industry Marie Cordella was designing and creating avant-garde gowns. We're absolutely available to create any gown of any sort that you're looking for. Commissions are based on availability.

HOW IS THE DRESS' DESIGN AND PRICING ESTABLISHED?

Custom gowns start at $7000 + materials costs. Initially, we'll ask you to submit inspiration images, your general dress size, timeline, ease of access to the studio and estimated budget. We're able to provide you with an estimate without your intended budget, however, we can create higher or lower versions of each design. So, it's best to discuss a general monetary amount and then make changes in design or cost investment from there.

Frequently, changes to the design will arise during the construction and fitting process. Maybe you decide that you want more lace details, or to bead the top of the dress a little later in the game. For this reason - dress designs are created and priced per service. Creating the fully constructed, fitted and lined basic gown is a flat rate. From there creative changes such as drastically lowering the back or adding lace are additional charges.

**All expected costs are discussed in advance and additional costs for new ideas are addressed as they arise during the process.

BRIDAL ALTERATIONS - our holistic approach

We get to know you, your family, your wedding venue, words that describe how you want to feel at your wedding and the many pictures that have inspired you. One bride may be inspired by the 1920's. She may use words like 'glamour, Gatsby, industrial, etc..' Another client may want to feel like a sophisticated fairy princess. We work as a team to make that happen. Often, we play a roll in selecting your ideal shoes, accessories and even undergarments for the big day. Other times a client may just want a quick hem and to get on their way - that's great, too! If you're happy, we're happy.

THE BRIDAL ALTERATIONS PROCESS AND PRICING

Standard bridal alterations tend to run between $500 - 750 (not including pressing and packaging.) Advanced or extravagant bridal alterations tend to run $850 - 1200 (not including pressing and packaging.

**These numbers are the product of the services needed by most clients. Taking in the bodice, taking in at hips, adjusting shoulder straps, adding boning, adding cups, hemming and bustling are the most common services. The numbers above are based off of clients who needed each / all of those services. Payment for each service is taken before each service is provided.

BRIDAL MODIFICATION and/or redesign

MODIFICATION: CHANGE, MUTATION, PERMUTATION, VARIATION.

MODIFYING any aspect of a gown is a completely different service than altering a gown. ALTERING is when the dress fits within 1 size up or down of your correct size. As a result each service performed to the gown is 'fine-tuning' the original gown. Slightly hemming - and when the job is complete the hem looks identical to the original hem. Raising the shoulders - and the adjusted shoulders look identical to the original design.

MODIFICATION is thinning the shoulder straps, raising the waist, removing the crinoline, turning ballgown into a fit-and-flair, hemming the gown so much that it's now tea-length vs. floor-length, and so forth.

UNDERSTANDING MODIFICATION PRICE POINTS

Modification involves adjusting multiple ares of the dress to it's new fit and aesthetic. Modifying the shoulders of a gown could run closer to $215+. ALTERING and slightly raising the shoulders of a gown tends to run $95+ because we're interacting with an isolated area of the dress. Less time and less work.

EXAMPLE OF MODIFICATION: A bride is a size 4 and purchases a size 10 sample sale gown. The waist is low, so we have to raise the shoulders 4in each, and now the straps are far too wide. As a result we have to reshape the sleeves, neckline and armholes.

**At your initial fitting or consultation we will absolutely go out of our way to make sure that you understand and are comfortable with your estimated bill.

ARTISAN CUSTOM LACEWORK

I absolutely love designing and piecing together artful, thoughtful, meaningful designs for both brides and anyone else. As a graphic designer and clothing designer it's important to me that the designs be clever and rich with historical influences. I'm equally capable of creating whatever I feel would look best for you - or what you want. Period.
